Non Surgical Thread Lift

The threadlift is an exciting, new, non surgical approach to facelifting and represents a significant advance in minimally invasive facial rejuvenation. A lunchtime procedure, the threadlift uses special plastic non-absorbable, bio-compatible threads to lift and support sagging skin on the face or neck.

The threadlift has only recently been introduced to Australia and is rapidly gaining popularity.

How Does the Threadlift Work?

The threads used in the threadlift are lined with numerous, small, directional fibres which are able to “fix” onto the soft tissues underneath the skin. Once the threads are inserted and the sagging tissue is lifted, the fibres anchor the soft tissue in the corrected position. Over a number of months, new collagen formation around the threads strengthens the support.

Accordingly, the threads are able to lift and support a drooping cheek, eyebrow, jowl or neck, restoring firmness to the face and neck.

What are the Advantages of Threadlift?
  Safety
The threads are made of prolene, a bio-compatible material that has been used for many years safely as a permanent suture in all forms of surgery including facial surgery.

Appearance
Unlike some facelift surgery, the results of the threadlift appear natural and there are no scars (because there are no cuts)

Simple
The threadlift is a simple, walk in – walk out procedure which usually takes only 30 minutes to perform.

Quick Recovery
Patients are usually able to return to normal work or social activities after 2 to 3 days. No bandages are necessary and there should be minimal discomfort afterwards.

Long Lasting
Overseas studies have demonstrated that the threads stimulate collagen formation around them and that the results have been long lasting.

Reversible
Unlike facelift surgery, the threadlift can be reversed (within a few weeks of the procedure) if requested.

What is the Threadlift Procedure Like?
The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and usually takes about 30 minutes. The thread is placed below the sagging skin and gently tightened to support the soft tissue upwards until the desired correction is achieved. Sedation can be used if requested although most people would not need it.

After the procedure, patients are asked to avoid chewing or talking for 24 hours, but a soft diet or liquids are fine. Facial massages should be avoided for 3 weeks. Patients can return to normal work or social activities after 2 to 3 days.
