The eyes are a central focus of the face and droopy eyelids
or bags beneath the eyes can give a tired, worn-out appearance.
Eyelid surgery can provide a significant rejuvenating effect
by removing excess skin or fat around the eyelids.

How is the Procedure Performed? |

Eyelid Surgery is performed under local anaesthetic,
usually in combination with sedation. Excess skin or fat from
the upper eyelid is removed by making a small incision in
the upper eyelid which heals with time to leave a thin white
line.
Excess fat from the lower eyelid may be removed by a small
incision beneath the eyelashes or from the inside of the eyelid.

Preparing for the Procedure
|

For 3 weeks leading up to the procedure, it is important to
avoid any substances which can thin out the blood, including
aspirin, Vitamin E and various other herbal supplements. Alcohol
and smoking should also be avoided. More detailed pre-operative
instructions are provided at the consultation.

How Long is the Recovery Period? |

Following the procedure, some swelling and bruising is common
for a few days. Sutures are usually removed after 4-6 days and
most patients feel comfortable about facing the general public
again after 10-14 days.
