Many patients come to visit us at Precision Cosmetic Laser
and Surgery for the treatment of redness, broken veins and flushing.
Some people have inherited a tendency to broken veins or redness
whilst in other it can be caused by sun exposure. Another common
cause in Australia is a condition called rosacea.
Rosacea typically comes on between the ages of 20-40 and
in addition to redness, broken veins and flushing, some patients
may have a predisposition to acne like blemishes and enlarged
pore size. Often, symptoms are aggravated by hot drinks, alcohol
and exercise.
Most rosacea sufferers don’t like ‘standing out’
with their redness or easy flushing.
The good news is that the IPL-Photoderm and the IPL Photofacial
have achieved excellent results in patients with broken veins
only or in patients with typical rosacea. The redness, broken
veins, flushing, large pores and outbreaks that can occur
with this condition can all be treated.
Red birthmarks also respond well to IPL-Photoderm.

How Does the Treatment Work? |
| |
The IPL-Photoderm emits a high energy light
which has a broad band of wavelengths which specifically target
the red pigment in the veins of the skin whilst preserving
the surrounding skin.
|
| |
Precision Cosmetic Laser Surgery has utilised the IPL-Photoderm
in several thousand treatments and our practice has an excellent
safety record. |
| |
If a high energy treatment is given, the vast majority of
patients will notice a significant improvement after just one
treatment. Some patients prefer us to start more slowly, in
which case a second treatment is more likely. |
| |
The consultation with the doctor costs $60.00. The cost of
the treatment depends on the area to be treated. The cost of
treating the most commonly requested areas are as follows:
• Nose only $165 •
Nose and front cheeks $220
When you consult the doctor, he will advise you of the exact
cost of treating your condition. |
How Does an IPL-Photoderm Treatment Differ
From a Photofacial? |
| |
Actually, the same machine is used. Photofacial,
however, usually refers to treating the whole of an area (eg.
whole of face, whole of neck) to give a more even, blended appearance.
Accordingly, a photofacial treatment is more expensive than
the treatment of a localised area such as the nose or inner
cheeks. However, if your veins or redness only involve a localised
area then a localised treatment may be all you need. |
